Ryan Sacksteder, OD graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in Marine Biology and a Chemistry minor before attending the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL where he obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree.
Dr. Sacksteder has been living in St Petersburg since 2012 and enjoys working closely with the great physicians at the Eye Institute of West Florida. His extensive training has allowed him to help manage ocular diseases including dry eyes, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, keratoconus, cataracts and more.
He works closely with surgical ophthalmologists and co-manages patients’ post-operative and long-term care after cataract, retina, or glaucoma surgeries. Dr. Sacksteder is also able to treat refractive conditions with the use of prisms, specialty hard contact lenses, and soft contacts for those with astigmatism and presbyopia (loss of reading vision).
When not at work, Dr. Sacksteder spends time with his wife and two children enjoying all the outdoor activities that St Petersburg has to offer.
