Robert J. Robert J. Weinstock, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained cataract, LASIK and refractive surgeon. He attended medical school at The Chicago Medical School and completed his residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine, where he served as Clinical & Administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Weinstock then received his fellowship training under his father Stephen M. Weinstock, MD at The Eye Institute of West Florida in 2001.
Since that time, Dr. Weinstock has been practicing and heading cataract and refractive surgery at The Eye Institute of West Florida and The Weinstock Laser Eye Center. Dr. Weinstock is the Director of Cataract and Refractive Surgery at The Eye Institute of West Florida and the Medical Director of the Largo Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Weinstock is the Fellowship Director for the refractive and cataract fellowship at The Eye Institute of West Florida, the first refractive and cataract fellowship in the country. He is also an associate clinical professor for the Department of Ophthalmology at The University of South Florida. Additionally, Dr. Weinstock serves on the cataract clinical committee for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is the chief medical editor of The Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today periodical. In 2015 Dr. Weinstock was named the official eye surgeon for The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he has performed refractive surgery on many professional athletes throughout his career.
Dr. Weinstock also serves on the clinical advisory board of many large and small ophthalmic companies, including Bausch & Lomb, Alcon, Amo, TrueVision, Doctor’s Allergy and STAAR Surgical Eye Optics. He has been awarded The Achievement award for outstanding and valuable contributions by The American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been voted by his peers as the top ophthalmic surgeon in the Tampa Bay Area numerous times.
Dr. Weinstock is a pioneer in cataract surgery and has been instrumental in bringing many technologies into practice, including 3-D guided surgery, intraoperative aberrometry and microincisional cataract surgery. He lectures and teaches around the globe and has a research team that performs many clinical trials, research projects and FDA clinical trials.
Dr. Weinstock and his family live in Tampa Bay, Florida and enjoy water sports, snow skiing, hiking and traveling.
